ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for a Senior
Manager
, Mechanical Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Irvine, CA. This role will own rapidly developed, ruggedized product introduction in addition to scaling legacy design concepts to support full-rate production. You will also be leading a team of engineers, and establishing robust design, integration, testing, and validation processes. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Chief Engineer to drive a rapid prototyping, growth mindset to the team while ensuring concepts are developed with the required engineering rigor to scale rapidly to production-ready designs capable of reliable deployment throughout the world.
YOU’LL DO
- Lead Family of Systems Development from concept through production, ensuring seamless integration, reliability, and performance across Anduril's internal stakeholders.
- Manage and mentor a team of ~5-6 Mechanical Engineers
, driving technical execution and professional growth within the Mechanical Engineering team. - Oversee full-cycle Subsystem and Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) development
, guiding requirements derivation, mechanical design and system integration, validation and reliability testing, and transition to manufacturing. - Ensure engineering excellence by overseeing design reviews, analysis, and hardware testing to ensure product reliability in many of the harshest environments on earth.
- Coordinate with internal and manufacturing, quality, and reliability partners to ensure high-quality documentation required for high-quality production and delivery.
- Support critical hardware demonstrations with internal and external customers as needed.
- 8+ years of mechanical/electromechanical design experience in a professional setting with engineering management experience.
- Proven experience transitioning products from concepts into ruggedized fielded products. Experience with military hardware a plus.
- 3D CAD proficiency (any platform) and ability to understand and apply GD&T to create high quality engineering drawings.
- Experience with production processes, including machining, sheet metal, injection molding, welding, wire harnessing and 3D printing to inform design for manufacturability.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
- Experience in NX/Teamcenter for design, production release, and change management.
- M.Eng, MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience developing ruggedized electromechanical assemblies from concept to low-rate production for automotive, space, or military applications.
- Ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs (motors, controllers, sensors, radars etc.).
