- Design and develop Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) test systems for embedded vehicle controllers.
- Become familiar with sensing, measurement and controls architecture.
- Set up, maintain and document HIL infrastructure.
- Conduct HIL testing to validate control system behavior against design specifications and project requirements.
- Work with subsystem and firmware engineers to ensure compliance with design specifications and project requirements.
- Collaborate with platform teams on system architecture, actuator and contactor control, electrical safety, and fault/overcurrent protection to simulate design specifications on HILs.
- Lead hardware failure analysis to determine root causes of HIL failures and document lessons learned.
- Develop and propose HIL infrastructure improvements to increase test coverage.
- Work with HIL firmware engineers to evaluate HIL hardware APIs for simulation needs.
- A bachelor's degree in electrical & electronics engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop test systems, or development work in tools such as DSPACE and NI Veri Stand.
- 2 years of experience working with embedded control systems, vehicle subsystems, or HIL technologies.
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices, including high voltage where applicable.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with focus on rapid root cause identification and corrective action implementation.
- Proficiency in automation scripting and control design using Python (Pytest) is a plus.
- Experience creating requirements from the ground up, using engineering analysis, with a strong focus on hardware.
- Experience with communication protocols including CAN, XCP, LIN, Flex Ray, CAN-FD and CAN over Ethernet.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proven track record using a first-principles engineering approach.
- Familiarity with DMMs, power supplies, oscilloscopes and crimp tools.
- Experience with vehicle communication bus tools such as CANalyzer/CANoe.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
- Experience with issue tracking tools such as Jira and Bugzilla.
Demonstrates expertise in Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) test systems, embedded control systems, and electrical safety practices. Proficient in automation scripting with Python and experienced in communication protocols relevant to vehicle subsystems.
