Job Summary:
The Industrial Motor Design Engineer will support the engineering team in the sizing, design, mechanical drawings, analysis, and testing of high-speed electric motors operating at speeds up to 70,000 RPM. These motors are used in fans, pumps, and compressors.
Responsibilities:- Support motor sizing, design, mechanical drawings, and testing activities.
- Perform electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical analysis using simulation tools such as FEA and CFD.
- Create detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Develop motor performance specifications and validation test plans.
- Conduct motor performance testing, including efficiency, torque, speed, thermal, vibration, and noise testing.
- Analyze and optimize motor efficiency and performance.
- Support the department’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) on motor design activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of electromagnetic theory and electric motor design principles.
- Understanding of winding techniques, lamination stacks, magnets, and insulation systems.
- Experience with mechanical and/or electrical analysis of electric motors.
- Experience designing or testing high-speed electric motors.
- Experience with FEA and CFD simulation tools.
- Experience with CAD modeling and detailed engineering drawings.
The position supports the design, analysis, documentation, and testing of high-speed electric motors used in industrial fan, pump, and compressor applications.
