Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

We are partnering with a well-established, mid-market construction firm in Southern California to identify a Controller to lead accounting operations and support continued growth.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role within a lean finance organization, working closely with executive leadership and operational teams.

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the accounting function for a multi-project construction environment with a strong and active backlog. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being embedded in the business and partnering directly with operations.

• Oversee the monthly close and financial reporting process
• Manage job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion reporting
• Ensure accurate project margin tracking and cost controls
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and backlog visibility
• Maintain strong internal controls and accounting processes
• Lead and develop a small accounting team
• Partner closely with project managers and operations leadership

• Prior Controller or senior accounting experience within construction or project-based environments
• Deep knowledge of job costing, WIP, and POC accounting
• Experience working in lean accounting teams with hands-on responsibility
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial data to non-finance partners

• Multi-entity or multi-division environments
• Experience supporting growing or evolving organizations
• On-site role (5 days/week)
