The Senior Loan Accountant will accurately prepare accounting records and review overall financial performance. The Senior Loan Accountant is responsible for ensuring that the loan accounting records are accurate, ensuring GAAP compliance. The Senior Loan Accountant is also responsible for a variety of general accounting functions, including but not limited to preparing journal entries to support the monthly accounting close, account reconciliations, financial reports, and assisting with the annual audit.
The Senior Loan Accountant will be required at times to back up other accounting staff when necessary and will also have an opportunity to work on assigned special projects.
- Assist in the timely monthly close process
- Complete month-end activities and create journal entries recording loan system transactions: funding, sales, escrow movement and servicing
- Perform GL and account reconciliation and analysis of loan system balances to general ledger: roll forward balancing and movement research
- Assist the Controller with loan system to general ledger integration, new implementations and ongoing enhancements of current systems
- Prepare and file business property tax returns
- Research general ledger variances and work collaboratively with Servicing and Production Support units to resolve issues, and work with the Finance staff to resolve cost center issues
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 5-6 years of experience as a Senior Loan Accountant in a Mortgage Banking enterprise
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial controls
- Expert skills with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel. Experience with Loan Vision or similar software highly desirable
- Knowledge of residential loan terminology, lifecycle and products
The starting base salary pay range for this position is $90,000/yr. The actual base is dependent on many factors such as: work experience, business needs, market demands, and other compensation components. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
