Senior Accountant

Overview

Our client, a well?established real estate and property management firm based in Irvine, is seeking a Senior Accountant with hands?on experience in real estate accounting and a strong technical skill set. This role will play a key part in owning the month?end close, supporting portfolio?level reporting, and leveraging advanced Excel tools to streamline reporting and analysis.

• Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for a portfolio of real estate entities
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Perform detailed balance sheet and bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances
• Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements for multiple properties and legal entities
• Conduct variance analysis (budget vs. actual, month-over-month, year?over?year) and provide insights to leadership
• Support property-level accounting, including CAM reconciliations, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intercompany activity
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analysis for assigned properties
• Partner with property managers, asset management, and FP&A to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
• Support internal and external audits, providing schedules and documentation as needed
• Utilize advanced Excel tools to automate reporting, improve efficiency, and enhance data accuracy

• Advanced Excel skills required, including:
  • Pivot tables
  • Advanced formulas (INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, etc.)
  • Macros and VBA (strongly preferred)
• SQL experience preferred for data extraction and reporting
• Experience working with large datasets and complex financial models
• Familiarity with real estate or property management accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, App Folio, Real Page, or similar) is a plus

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of accounting experience with a strong preference for real estate or property management
• Solid understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting
• Experience supporting multi-entity and multi?property portfolios
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating cross?functionally
