Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Commercial Real Estate Administrative AND Accountant role based in Santa Ana, CA. The Commercial Real Estate Accountant will manage day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of commercial properties, including recording transactions, maintaining general ledgers, and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Responsibilities include overseeing property-wide budgets, tracking rent rolls, reconciling bank accounts, managing CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations, and ensuring accurate recording of lease-related revenue and expenses.
The role will also support financial reporting to internal stakeholders and external partners, assist with audits, monitor cash flow, and contribute to forecasting and variance analysis. This position collaborates closely with property management, asset management, and finance teams to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial information for decision-making.
- Strong proficiency in preparing and analyzing Financial Statements and supporting schedules for commercial real estate assets.
- Demonstrated Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, perform variance analysis, and support budgeting and forecasting.
- Solid foundation in Finance concepts relevant to real estate, including cash flow, ROI, and property-level performance metrics.
- Hands‑on experience in Management Accounting, including budgeting, cost allocation, and property-level expense tracking.
- Practical experience in Financial Reporting, including internal management reports and external partner or lender reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Excel; experience with real estate or property management systems is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting practices, including lease accounting and CAM reconciliations.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and capacity to manage multiple properties or projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross‑functional teams and non‑finance stakeholders.
