Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriter on our Middle Market team.

Our Middle Market Underwriting team offers diverse multi-line capabilities targeted at select industry verticals such as real estate, hospitality, financial institutions, professional services, technology, and manufacturing. We work through a network of retail brokers who share our commitment to long-term partnerships built on a strong service proposition.

Location:

• Evaluate Underwriting Risks:
  Drive submission activity and determine risk acceptability using company guidelines.
• Demonstrate Technical Expertise:
  Apply deep product knowledge across multiple Middle Market P&C insurance lines.
• Execute Strategic Pricing:
  Price risks accurately using sophisticated financial models and diverse structures.
• Maintain Underwriting Discipline:
  Use specialized tools to ensure thorough account reviews and complete documentation.
• Analyze Market Trends:
  Monitor state regulations, territory issues, and underwriting data to drive results.
• Cultivate Broker Relationships:
  Build strong connections through active marketing, client meetings, and regional travel.

• Minimum 1-2 years of underwriting experience.
• Experience producing and underwriting accounts of all sizes with major brokerage houses, agents, and specialty retailers.
• Team player with grit, and collaborative by nature.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $125,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
