Responsibilities
  • Provide tax advocacy services on criminal and civil matters, including participation in IRS audits and administrative hearings.
  • Advocate on clients’ behalf before the collection and examination divisions of the Internal Revenue Service throughout the United States and all 50 state tax agencies.
  • Research and consult on various tax matters, respond to IRS and other tax authority inquiries, and make recommendations to the client.
  • Conduct business fraud investigations.
  • Proactively build relationships and communicate effectively with the client to provide superior client service.
  • Invest in professional development through active participation in training sessions and networking events both internally and externally.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or an equivalent field (Master’s Degree, MST, JD, or other advanced degree is a plus).
  • CPA, CFE, or Enrolled Agent certifications highly desired.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in a professional services firm providing tax compliance services or equivalent in a government agency; experience in tax examination, tax advocacy, or controversy is a plus.
  • Former experience specializing in forensic accounting and investigative matters related to government investigations and tax advocacy highly desired.
  • Demonstrated management, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project‑management, communication skills, and highly developed Microsoft Suite skills (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, exhibit appropriate ethical knowledge, and a sense of urgency and quality focus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and comfortably interact with senior‑level client personnel, including supporting the preparation of and participating in executive briefings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong project‑management and facilitation skills.
  • Flexibility to travel to client sites as needed and ability to work beyond core business hours for client engagements.
Pay and Benefits

The pay rate range for this position is $95,000 to $130,110. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to the applicant’s skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements, and geographic location. Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
