Fall 2026
Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2026 through June 2028. Rivian’s Internship Program requires active student enrollment and collects expected degree completion dates solely to verify eligibility and determine availability for future full‑time opportunities.

This role will support our ongoing development of future Rivian vehicle products. Responsibilities include supporting program controllers with financial analysis, forecasting, and variance commentary on our development roadmap, completing business cases on key product decisions, and helping shape the future of Rivian’s product offerings.
Responsibilities- Budgeting and forecast support for one of our core Rivian vehicle products
- Variance analysis of our R&D and product forecast through review of our monthly spend in SAP and Databricks
- Support product decision‑making by gathering inputs from engineering and supply‑chain teams to create business cases and providing leaders with key financial metrics
- Review ongoing product profitability targets for accuracy and performance versus target. Support the vehicle line controller in delivering target performance presentations as products move through milestones
- Interact with others across finance to understand the inputs Rivian uses to assess profitability of our products once they reach production
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree at an accredited university
- Actively pursuing a degree or one closely related in Finance, Economics, or Engineering
- Understanding of basic financial concepts, including how to read the three financial statements (Income, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow)
- Basic skills in Excel and financial modeling, with preference given to experience running NPV, IRR, or payback period calculations
- Strong interpersonal communications and a willingness to connect with team members of varying backgrounds to ask questions, understand their work, and apply financial acumen to help assess Rivian’s R&D cost
- Demonstrated experience in problem framing and solving, including the ability to operate independently, scope out potential roadblocks and gaps, and report back to leaders on findings
- Passion for the automotive or sustainable energy industries, a self‑starter mentality, and the willingness to proactively ask questions and explore new learning opportunities
The salary range for this role is $26.00–45.00 per hour for SoCal based applicants. This range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
