Alternative Investment Analyst

Based in the Irvine, CA office (may also work out of Franklin, TN). Reports to the Alternative Investment Portfolio Manager and assists in managing alternative investment portfolio for the Family Office and related 501(c)(3) entities through all stages of the investment lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in management of a portfolio of private investments, including monitoring manager performance and risk.
  • Foster relationships with investment partners and conduct periodic updates to initial due diligence.
  • Conduct on‑site visits with key investment and operations personnel.
  • Evaluate potential new investment managers using quantitative and qualitative skills.
  • Investigate managers’ backgrounds, track record, and investment processes.
  • Maintain and update internal databases of performance, holdings, market exposures, and manager interactions.
  • Integrate data supplied from managers with internal data to provide detailed reporting.
  • Review investment sub‑strategies to assess market opportunity and adjust portfolio allocation or manager roster.
  • Prepare investment memoranda detailing proposed investment rationale.
  • Prepare standard and ad‑hoc reports and presentations for the investment committee and leadership teams.
  • Perform other related job duties as required.
Schedule & Benefits
  • Full‑time, Exempt.
  • Salary range: $97,500‑$123,500 annual base, bonus eligible.
  • Office location:
    Irvine, CA (or Franklin, TN).
  • Office hours:
    Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am‑5:00 pm.
  • Travel: approximately 15% of the year nationwide.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
  • 3‑6 years of experience in investment management, alternative assets group of an insurance company, pension, endowment, foundation, or family office.
  • 3‑6 years of investment banking experience or working in a finance or investment department.
  • Knowledge of capital markets and investment landscape, preferably private market investments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and recommendation skills.
  • Excellent listening, communication, and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work autonomously yet collaborate within a team, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive confidential information.
  • Optional advanced credentials: CFA, CAIA, MBA, CPA, JD, or equivalent.
