POSITION
DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Originator leads front‑end commercial origination for DG community solar and storage acquisitions. The role sources opportunities, builds developer, broker and advisory relationships to generate a strong acquisition pipeline, and works closely with the commercial analysis team to competitively price and structure deals.
The person owns transactions from initial outreach through term sheet execution, serving as the primary seller‑facing lead and driving negotiations. The role also prepares front‑end Investment Committee materials, including investment rationale, valuation highlights, and key risks, before handing off transactions to the execution team for diligence and closing.
RESPONSIBILITIESDeal Sourcing & Origination
- Source DG community solar and storage acquisition opportunities through direct developer outreach, brokers, and market intelligence.
- Build and maintain developer and intermediary relationships to generate proprietary and repeat deal flow.
Market & Program Expertise
- Maintain strong working knowledge of state programs, incentives, interconnection dynamics, and development risks to quickly assess deal fit.
- Translate market and program dynamics into commercially viable deal structures.
Commercial Analysis & Pricing
- Partner with the commercial analysis team to evaluate opportunities using internal financial models and valuation frameworks.
- Apply commercial judgment to key assumptions, risks, and structures to determine competitive bid strategies.
Deal Leadership & Negotiation
- Serve as the primary seller‑facing lead and drive commercial negotiations through term sheet execution and exclusivity.
- Coordinate internal alignment across pricing, project finance, legal, and execution teams during the front‑end phase.
Investment Committee & Front‑End Diligence
- Prepare and present front‑end Investment Committee materials, including investment rationale, valuation highlights, and key risks.
- Support limited early‑stage diligence prior to handoff to transaction and execution teams.
Strategic Relationship Management
- Maintain long‑term relationships with developers, brokers, and advisors to support repeatable acquisition channels.
- Track market activity and counter parties to inform origination strategy and pipeline planning.
- 5–7+ years of direct experience in renewable energy acquisitions, origination, development, M&A, or project finance, with exposure to DG community solar and/or distributed storage.
- Proven ability to source deals, exercise commercial judgment, lead negotiations, and communicate effectively with counter parties and internal stakeholders.
- Comfort working with financial models and translating valuation outputs into deal strategy.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel (10%) and attend industry events across the U.S.
The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
