Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, the incumbent is responsible for processing an array of accounting documents in support of DCE’s operations. Reconciles monthly ledgers. Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual fiscal closing processes ensuring compliance with departmental and university policies and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Reviews financial transactions to ensure proper accounting of accounts receivable and accounts payable from an array of sources and for a wide range of uses.
Assists with developing and analyzing DCE’s annual and quarterly budget forecasts. Enters and maintains data in UC Irvine’s central accounting system (Kuali Financial System) DCE’s financial management system (Quick Books). Assists with annual budget preparation including F1, F2, F3 and uses data to identify trends, prepare reports, and projects, revenue and expenses.
- Thorough knowledge of UCI and DCE financial processes, policies and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with all Continuing Education and campus department staff & faculty, General Accounting, University Advancement, the Budget Office, etc.
- Demonstrated skill in budget preparation and trend analysis
- Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
- Leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to professional and support staff.
- Knowledge and demonstrated skills in financial analysis and projections and planning and administration of multi-million dollar budgets from multiple funding sources with monthly fluctuations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and / or equivalent experience / training
- 4-6 years in Progressive experience in accounting and budgeting
