A growing startup company in Irvine, CA is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst / FP&A Consultant to support the Finance team.

This is an approximately 20-hour-per-week consulting engagement expected to last 4–6 months, with the expectation to convert to a full-time / direct hire position.

Job Details

This is a hands-on role suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, manages priorities, and enjoys building financial processes from the ground up.

What You'll Be Doing

Review and own monthly operating expense actuals at the GL/account and cost center level

Build and maintain the company's financial model, incorporating actuals to track trends and spend against budget/forecast

Prepare and analyze monthly Budget vs. Actual reports, identify, quantify, and explain variances

Query large-scale data warehouse and ERP datasets (SQL, Snowflake) to build automated reporting and dashboards that surface trends beyond summary-level financials

Establish and document repeatable financial processes as the company scales

Support monthly close, variance analysis, trend analysis, and management reporting

Support recurring forecasting and quarterly planning activities

Track and analyze KPIs and provide meaningful insights into financial and operational performance

Partner with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver analysis and recommendations that support decision-making

Respond to ad hoc financial questions and analytical requests from senior leadership

What We're Looking For

3+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis or FP&A
Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas)
SQL experience required — comfortable querying databases and mining large datasets
Experience with Net Suite, Xero, or Salesforce a plus
Excellent communication skills — able to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders
Startup or high-growth company experience strongly preferred

Nice to Have

Healthcare, life sciences, medical device, biotech, or pharma industry experience
Experience building financial processes and reporting infrastructure from scratch
Snowflake or similar data warehouse experiencece

Must be local to Irvine to be considered. No sponsorship provided
