The X Ray Limited Scope Medical Support Specialist performs routine x‑ray, medical, and testing procedures under direct supervision of the treating clinician and supports registration and referral management as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures; escort patients to dressing and x‑ray rooms, provide instructions and assist with positioning.
  • Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure care, safety and comfort during the x‑ray exam.
  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce diagnostic images; set exposure time and distance according to examination specifications.
  • Take x‑rays following established requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to protect patients and team members.
  • Maintain equipment; report malfunctions to Center Operations Director.
  • Follow all radiology workflows and documentation procedures; complete required documentation related to patient x‑ray visits.
  • Maintain all x‑ray equipment, including calibration, QA/QC procedures and record keeping per policy and procedures.
  • Perform Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). non‑DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Prepare patients for physical examinations and assist with ancillary testing (vaccines, injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiograms, respirator fit testing).
  • Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.).
  • Assist providers during examination and treatment.
  • Perform routine medical procedures as ordered by the treating clinician and triage emergent patients as needed.
  • Prepare and assist clinician with procedure set‑up and injury care.
  • Apply bandages, dressings, and splints as ordered.
  • Dispense medications and DME per state regulations.
  • Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices.
  • Maintain supplies, clean rooms, equipment, and stock exam rooms.
  • Operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping.
  • Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected.
  • Assist with patient flow and volume in partnership with center leadership.
  • Keep patients informed of expected wait times during visits.
  • Perform clerical tasks in front and back office; ensure accurate documentation.
  • Perform front office duties: greet patients, obtain authorization, check in/out, communicate wait times, answer multi‑line telephone system, distribute employer results/paperwork.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
  • Attend center staff meetings or huddles as required.
  • Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility.
  • Complete applicable training, including monthly clinical competency training.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of state‑approved Limited Scope Technician certificate program and licensure (if applicable).
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • At least six months of medical assistant experience with knowledge of medical procedures and terminology.
  • At least six months of demonstrated experience in X‑ray and familiarity with routine medical procedures.
  • Knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred.
  • Prior experience in medical office, healthcare or customer service.
