Wellness is seeking compassionate, dependable, and professionally motivated counselors and mental health therapists to join our Counseling & Connection Division and provide services through our Orange County Social Services Agency family counseling program. This position works directly with children, adolescents, parents, caregivers, and families experiencing challenges such as family conflict, trauma, substance use, behavioral health concerns, parenting stress, housing instability, and child welfare involvement.
The Counselor/Mental Health Therapist will provide assessment, counseling, treatment planning, case management, crisis support, resource linkage, and coordination with Social Services Agency personnel and community partners. Services are intended to strengthen family functioning, improve communication and coping, support child safety and well-being, and help families achieve greater stability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct intake, assessment, screening, and ongoing review of individual and family needs.
- Develop individualized treatment and service plans in collaboration with clients, families, referral sources, and involved professionals.
- Provide individual, family, conjoint, and group counseling within the clinician’s scope of practice.
- Deliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based services to children, adolescents, adults, and families.
- Provide case management, advocacy, referrals, crisis support, safety planning, and linkage to behavioral health and community resources.
- Coordinate services with Orange County Social Services Agency personnel, caregivers, schools, healthcare providers, and community partners.
- Maintain accurate and timely assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, transition reports, and discharge documentation.
- Participate in clinical supervision, case consultation, staff meetings, and required trainings.
- Complete all services and documentation in accordance with P4W, contractual, legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field.
- At least one year of experience in a clinical or therapeutic setting providing direct services in the human services field.
- Current California Board of Behavioral Sciences registration as an ACSW, AMFT, or APCC, or active licensure as an LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC, preferred when required by assignment.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, parents, caregivers, and families with behavioral health or social service needs.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, family systems, child development, crisis response, and community resource navigation.
- Ability to complete clear, accurate, professional, and timely clinical documentation.
- Strong communication, organization, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Orange County Social Services Agency, child welfare, foster care, family preservation, or county-funded counseling programs.
- Experience serving at-risk children, youth, parents, and families.
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral interventions, restorative practices, and culturally responsive counseling.
