About the Role:Our long-term client in the Healthcare industry is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist to join their team. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in payroll operations, compliance knowledge, and excellent communication skills to interact with internal departments and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities:- Process and manage payroll for multiple states, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement for all employee types.
- Review and validate new hires, terminations, and employee changes across the payroll system.
- Compile and input data related to hours worked, time off, deductions, garnishments, and other with holdings.
- Ensure accuracy of employee records including promotions, bonuses, and other employment updates.
- Train and support managers on payroll systems and processes.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, ensuring timely communication and follow-up.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
- Partner with finance and HR teams during month-end closing processes and audits.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend enhancements to payroll workflows and systems.
- Maintain a high level of customer service and confidentiality at all times.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required;
Bachelor's Degree preferred. - Minimum 2 years of experience in payroll administration within a multi-state environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience building and maintaining complex spreadsheets.
- Experience with payroll platforms (Ulti Pro preferred).
- Strong knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws.
- High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
