The Sr Engineer, Innovations leads the development, deployment, and support of emerging and clinical technologies across dental and medical environments. The role is essential to advancing innovative solutions that improve patient outcomes, clinical efficiency, and integrated care delivery. The Sr Engineer, Innovations will bring technical depth, cross‑functional collaboration, and a passion for healthcare innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement advanced technology solutions that enable clinical, operational, and digital innovation across the organization.
  • Partner with stakeholders across IT, operations, and clinical teams to assess requirements and translate them into scalable, secure technical solutions.
  • Lead the development, testing, and deployment of pilot programs and emerging technologies, specifically involving AI, digital health tools, medical‑dental integration, and patient screening systems.
  • Evaluate and implement interoperability and integration solutions across platforms such as Epic, imaging systems, and real‑time diagnostic tools.
  • Document processes, technical solutions, and deployment playbooks to support future scaling of innovation programs.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for high‑priority or escalated technology issues related to innovation programs.
  • Contribute to governance, risk, and compliance efforts for new solutions, including HIPAA, CLIA, and IT security assessments.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, data analysts, and innovation program leads to ensure alignment on deliverables and timelines.
  • Support agile project delivery frameworks, participating in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Act as a technical mentor for junior engineers and analysts supporting innovation programs.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field of study from an accredited college or university. In lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in engineering and implementing technical solutions in healthcare, life sciences, or enterprise innovation settings.
  • Proven success deploying complex, cross‑functional technology programs in a fast‑paced or clinical environment.
  • Experience with APIs, cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), and integration frameworks in support of digital health or patient data platforms.
  • Proficiency in scripting or automation languages (e.g., Python, Power Shell).
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in Information Systems, Health Informatics, or related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working within an Epic environment or with EMR integration.
  • Familiarity with digital health technologies such as connected medical devices, AI decision support tools, or patient engagement platforms.
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum, ITL, or Dev Ops practices.
  • Previous involvement in innovation programs, pilots, or technology scouting within healthcare.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of privacy, security, and regulatory frameworks including HIPAA and applicable IT security standards.
  • Ability to stay current on emerging trends in healthcare technology (e.g., AI, IoT, cloud platforms, mobile health) and assess their potential impact and application across the organization.
  • Ability to design and operationalize secure, scalable architectures and prototypes for emerging tech solutions.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical topics for non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate high‑level vision into executable technical plans.
  • Self‑motivated, adaptable, and proactive with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to lead cross‑functional technical discussions.
  • Deep interest in clinical innovation, patient‑centered care, and the future of healthcare delivery.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed, mission‑driven organization.
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and the ability to balance simultaneously competing priorities.
