The Developer Platform Architect will lead the design and evolution of a modern Internal Developer Platform supporting advanced aerospace and avionics engineering teams. This role is essential for improving developer experience, enabling scalable cloud-native operations, and ensuring high-performance delivery pipelines across mission-critical systems.

As a Developer Platform Architect, you will architect and implement a multi-tenant, cloud-native developer platform that empowers engineering teams to innovate efficiently in a regulated aerospace environment. You will collaborate with platform engineers, software developers, and cloud architects to streamline developer workflows, optimize CI/CD pipelines, and standardize service lifecycle management. The role requires deep technical leadership, hands-on platform engineering expertise, and the ability to guide teams toward modern cloud-native best practices.

You will also own the integration and scaling of tools like Backstage.io, Kubernetes, Git Ops frameworks, and developer self-service capabilities. This is a high-visibility role with significant impact on engineering productivity and product delivery velocity.

• Architect and implement an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) optimized for aerospace and avionics software teams.
• Design scalable multi-tenant cloud platform solutions leveraging AWS and Kubernetes.
• Lead the adoption and customization of Backstage.io as the centralized developer portal.
• Define and maintain platform blueprints, service templates, and golden paths for development teams.
• Enhance developer workflows through automation, self-service provisioning, and standardized tooling.
• Oversee end-to-end CI/CD systems, Git Ops workflows, and release automation using ArgoCD and related tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure platform security, compliance, and operational reliability.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering and platform teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Architecture, or Dev Ops roles.
• Strong expertise in AWS cloud services, multi-tenant architectures, and cloud-native tooling.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes architecture, operations, and scaling.
• Proven experience implementing or customizing Backstage.io or similar developer portals.
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git Ops (ArgoCD), and automated deployment practices.
• Experience working in aerospace, avionics, or other regulated, safety-critical industries.
• Strong communication, documentation, and technical leadership skills.

• Experience with React for Backstage.io plugin customization.
• Familiarity with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
• Knowledge of FAA, DO-178C, or other aerospace regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CDK.
• Background in developer experience (Dev Ex) research and platform product thinking.
