Responsibilities
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining database architectures that support business applications and processes.
- Overseeing data ingestion and ETL/ELT workflows within the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), ensuring high performance, reliability, and security.
- Ensuring compliance with data governance policies, backup and recovery protocols, and industry regulations.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to provide insights, manage projects, and support data-driven decision‑making.
- Planning and executing database upgrades, patching, and capacity planning for scalability.
- Diagnosing and resolving database-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Serving as the primary Major Incident Management (MIM) resource for the EDW.
- Monitoring EDW users, conducting audits, and maintaining security controls.
- Leading technical sessions and projects, representing the EDW team in managing the Microsoft Fabric environment.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Providing training and support to team members on database management and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, or commensurate experience.
- 3-5 years as a Database Administrator and cloud architecture (Microsoft ecosystem) or similar role.
- Proven experience with Microsoft ecosystem, Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, Google Cloud, etc.
- Experience with Spark, PySpark, KQL, notebooks, and lake houses preferred.
- Strong SQL skills; ability to write and optimize complex queries.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Knowledge of database security best practices, implementing encryption, access controls, and auditing.
- Preferred experience with Microsoft Purview, Dev Ops or similar environments.
- Desired certifications:
Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified:
Azure Database Administrator Associate.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Customer service orientation and professionalism.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language.
- Effective communication with cross‑functional teams (IT, compliance, analytics).
- Mentoring and training team members on database management best practices.
- Independent judgment, discretion, confidentiality.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance as required.
- Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional standing up to 3 hours per day.
- Constant sitting up to 8 hours per day.
- Occasional walking up to 3 hours per day.
- Travel 0-20%.
- Repetitive activity: keyboard activity, phone use, writing.
- Visual acuity to view computer monitor and read text.
- No environmental exposure.
Starting Salary Range: $87,000 - $100,000 per year.
