Senior Cloud & Reliability Engineer

Sensible Care is now hiring a senior cloud & reliability engineer who will maintain our current stack, lead HIPAA compliance efforts, and architect and execute a migration to another cloud ecosystem. Our current infrastructure is hosted on Linode across several virtual private servers (VPS).

Schedule:
Mon‑Fri 9am‑6pm at our Headquarters located 1920 Main St, Irvine, CA 92614

• Maintain and optimize the current Linode VPS environment, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Conduct a Build‑vs‑Migration analysis and lead a transition to a provider such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, or partner with a third‑party compliance platform.
• Implement SLIs/SLOs and automated monitoring for a VPS‑heavy environment; manage uptime, disaster recovery, and incident response.
• Bring automation to the current setup using IaC to ensure reproducibility and security of VPS instances.

• Security:
  Harden Linux servers, manage firewalls, and ensure encryption at rest and in transit.
• HIPAA Compliance:
  Serve as the technical lead for audits and security documentation.
• Quality Assurance:
  Partner with developers to create automated staging environments and deployment “smoke tests.”
• Software Engineering (minor):
  Contribute to the core application or develop internal tools to manage infrastructure.

• 5+ years in Dev Ops, SRE, or Systems Administration.
• Experience with Linode (or similar VPS providers) and at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Proven track record of moving workloads between providers or modernizing legacy VPS setups.
• Direct experience with HIPAA or a similar regulatory framework.
• Strong understanding of VPCs, subnets, VPNs, and load balancing in a cloud environment.
