The Business Process Analyst III analyzes, defines, and develops the organization's business process methods and practices to ensure alignment with strategic goals. This role partners with business process owners, management, and cross-functional technology teams on strategic initiatives, process improvements, and application development efforts. The analyst leads business and technical analysis sessions, translates business needs into clear requirements, applies quantitative analysis to data, cost-benefit, and process measurements, and supports technology and process solutions from concept through implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze internal business processes, assess requirements, evaluate existing practices, and recommend optimal process and technology improvements aligned with organizational strategy.
- Lead business and technical analysis sessions supporting new application development and current and projected business needs.
- Quickly develop an understanding of business issues, operational processes, data challenges, and relevant industry considerations.
- Act as a liaison among the department, business units, business process owners, management, and technology teams.
- Align stakeholders on business requirements, system requirements, program functions, operations, and strategic objectives.
- Provide analysis and support to project management, application development, and quality assurance teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Communicate required changes to business and development teams and help drive technology and process solutions from concept through completion.
- Assist with project schedules, deadlines, scope management, and time and cost estimates.
- Prepare or support project startup assessments, business cases, project scope documentation, and financial documentation.
- Develop business requirements documentation, including information architecture, use cases, wireframe and user experience reviews, operational requirements, security requirements, and performance requirements.
- Develop functional requirements documentation, including data requirements, infrastructure diagrams, operational requirements, security, performance, testing, and quality assurance considerations.
- Assist in developing test plans and authoring training, technical, and process documentation.
- Research industry trends, process improvement techniques, and best practices for application within the organization.
- Exercise sound judgment in selecting analytical methods and techniques, work independently with limited day-to-day instruction, and build relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, information systems, computer science, business analytics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in an IT environment performing business analysis, process analysis, systems analysis, or related work.
- Experience leading business and technical analysis sessions and translating business needs into business and system requirements.
- Proficiency in developing business requirements documentation, functional requirements, process flows, status reports, presentations, and project documentation.
- Experience supporting application development, project management, and quality assurance teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Experience applying quantitative analysis to data, cost-benefit, and/or process measurement activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate changes, recommendations, and requirements to business and technical audiences.
- Demonstrated project and team leadership skills, sound judgment, self-direction, and the ability to manage assignments with limited supervision.
- Self-starter with a willingness to take ownership and contribute wherever needed to complete the work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting new application development initiatives from concept through implementation.
- Experience developing business cases, scope and cost estimates, use cases, data requirements, infrastructure diagrams, test plans, wireframe reviews, or user experience reviews.
