Position Overview

Position Overview - 100% On-site. Our rapidly expanding client is seeking a dynamic Purchasing Manager to join their team. With plans to double in size over the next two years, this is an exciting opportunity to step into a high-impact role during a major growth phase. The Purchasing Manager will lead procurement operations across construction and prefabrication projects. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing materials, equipment, and vendor relationships to ensure cost efficiency, schedule reliability, and alignment with our client's commitment to innovation and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate brings construction related industry experience (electrical, mechanical, general contracting, or specialty trades) and thrives in a dynamic environment where analytics, process improvement, and cross functional collaboration are key.

Key Responsibilities Procurement & Supply Chain Management
  • Oversee end?to?end purchasing for materials, equipment, and services across multiple construction projects.
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies that support cost savings, schedule adherence, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, forecasts, and inventory tracking.
Vendor & Contract Management
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and reliable delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to support long?term partnerships.
  • Manage contracts, purchase orders, and compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Cost Control & Analytics
  • Analyze material usage, pricing trends, and procurement data to drive cost?effective decision?making.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field teams to forecast material needs and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Support our client's data?driven approach by integrating analytics into purchasing workflows.
Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, prefabrication, and field teams to ensure materials align with project specifications and timelines.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to labor optimization, manufacturing integration, and construction efficiency.
Qualifications Required
  • 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in construction, electrical contracting, mechanical contracting, or related industries.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
  • Proficiency with procurement software, ERP systems, and data?driven decision?making.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and material requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem?solving skills.
Preferred
  • Experience with prefabrication, manufacturing workflows, or advanced construction technologies.
  • Knowledge of electrical materials, equipment, and industry standards.
  • Background in process improvement, lean principles, or supply chain optimization.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
