This role is part of Alcon’s Supply Chain function, a team that manages the logistics, inventory management, and supply chain analytics for Alcon’s industry leading products to ensure products are delivered efficiently and effectively so that people can see brilliantly.
The Manager, Production Planning (Professional Path) is primarily responsible for maintaining material schedules to support production control, managing material flow, and addressing shortages. You will handle direct material buying, execute supply chain strategies, and lead individual projects.
Responsibilities- Mentor and coach team members to share best practices and solutions, providing ongoing development support.
- Lead and drive project teams, leveraging deep subject‑matter expertise to ensure successful delivery.
- Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, and simplify tasks.
- Collaborate directly with suppliers to optimize processes and strengthen partnerships.
- Analyze complex issues, develop effective solutions, and drive resolution to completion.
- Maintain schedules for material requirements and availability to support production control and manage the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies.
- Compile records of material quantity, cost, and types received, shipped, in stock, or in production.
- Determine and address potential and actual material shortages.
- Handle direct material buying and execute long‑term supply chain strategies.
- Manage individual projects, applying advanced knowledge to enhance performance and operational efficiency.
- Adhere to GxP regulations by strictly following SOPs, maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring rigorous quality control, and completing all required training.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs).
- Fluent in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating in English.
- 5 years of relevant experience.
- Work location:
onsite. - Travel requirements: 0–10% domestic.
- Medical device manufacturing experience.
- ERP/MRP system expertise; SAP proficiency strongly preferred.
- Global supply chain knowledge.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Advanced Excel proficiency.
