We are seeking an experienced Buyer / Planner – Indirect MRO Procurement to join a leading manufacturer of critical medical products used in hospitals nationwide. This is a high-impact temporary opportunity (estimated 6 months) supporting a leave of absence, with potential for extension based on business needs and performance.
This role is fully onsite at a GMP-regulated manufacturing plant
, making it an ideal fit for professionals with pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech, or regulated manufacturing experience

- Join a mission-driven organization producing products used in hospitals and patient care settings
- Manage a large spend over procurement categories
- High-visibility role partnering with operations, finance, engineering, and plant leadership
- Opportunity to influence sourcing strategy, cost savings, and supplier performance
- Potential for extension beyond the initial assignment
- Lead sourcing activities for indirect parts, MRO supplies, services, and equipment
- Negotiate pricing, volume discounts, payment terms, contracts, and service agreements
- Run RFPs/RFIs
, benchmark suppliers, and identify savings opportunities - Develop category strategies that support continuity, growth, and inflation mitigation
- Build strong relationships with internal business unit leaders and plant stakeholders
- Partner with vendors to improve delivery, quality, and responsiveness
- Conduct supplier scorecard reviews and performance meetings
- Resolve supplier non-conformance and underperformance issues proactively
- Execute purchase orders through the Ariba procure-to-pay platform
- Support production build plans and forecasts through timely purchasing execution
- Manage material flow issues and reduce risk to operations
- Drive inventory optimization and cost reduction initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
- 5+ years of procurement / purchasing experience
- Experience in manufacturing, medical device, pharmaceutical, or GMP-regulated environments
- Strong sourcing background in indirect MRO procurement (direct materials also valuable)
- Experience with:
- Spend analysis
- RFP / RFI processes
- Supplier negotiations
- Contracting
- Category management
- ERP experience (
SAP strongly preferred
) - Ariba experience highly desired
- Supply chain certifications such as CPIM, CPSM, CSCP, Lean Six Sigma
- Advanced Excel and data analysis
- Strong negotiation and influencing ability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast-moving environment
