Labor Category Manager Overview
As a Labor Category Manager within Capital Group’s Global Business Services Strategic Sourcing and Procurement organization, you will lead sourcing strategies that support enterprise priorities across our Global Distribution portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute category strategies aligned to business and enterprise priorities; leverage spend data, market intelligence, and supplier insights to identify opportunities for value creation and risk mitigation.
- Lead sourcing initiatives, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and award recommendations; develop sourcing strategies and negotiation approaches for complex engagements.
- Manage supplier performance through governance, scorecards, business reviews, and issue resolution; ensure sourcing activities follow appropriate governance and procurement standards.
- Build trusted relationships with business leaders and cross‑functional partners; challenge requirements and influence decision making through data‑driven recommendations.
- Lead and develop Category Specialists and sourcing team members; coach performance, build capability, and create growth opportunities.
- Drive consistent use of sourcing tools, processes, and best practices; identify opportunities to improve sourcing effectiveness, supplier performance, and business outcomes.
- Leverage approved technologies and AI‑enabled tools to increase productivity and efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, category management, commercial management, or related disciplines.
- Experience leading sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and supplier performance programs.
- Experience managing people, contractors, or cross‑functional work streams.
- Strong understanding of category management, strategic sourcing, contracting, and supplier governance.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive business outcomes.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Experience supporting Marketing, Sales, Client Services, or Financial Services organizations.
- Experience managing complex supplier portfolios and strategic supplier relationships.
- Familiarity with procurement technology, spend analytics, and supplier management tools.
- Professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, or CSCP.
- Southern California base salary range: $159,354–$254,966.
