Role SummaryThe Staff Strategic Supply Chain Partner, Planning Excellence role drives global service parts supply chain performance by identifying risks and constraints, optimizing inventory and cost, and translating complex analytics into actionable decisions. This role will systematically assess, manage, and improve supplier performance to ensure on time delivery and support from our suppliers to Rivian.
This role partners with Field Service, Service Parts Planning, Supply Chain, Procurement Programs, Manufacturing, and Finance to quantify business impact, model scenarios, develop mitigation strategies, and drive measurable performance and accountability. The ideal candidate combines deep supply chain expertise, analytical and systems capabilities, financial acumen, strategic problem-solving, and executive communication skills. The Staff Strategic Supply Chain Partner, Planning Excellence role requires not just strong analytics, but by the ability to turn analytics into decisions and accountability.
The core operating mechanism is:
Identify risk → understand bottleneck → quantify impact → model options → align supplier and cross-functional action → establish accountability → monitor recovery
- Identify, assess and monitor supply chain risks across suppliers, parts, geographies and logistics. Partner with Procurement, SCM, Supplier Development and program teams to align on risk response and contingency plans
- Establish leading indicators and performance mechanisms that shift the organization from reactive shortage management to proactive risk identification and prevention
- Partner with Supply Chain Programs and task force teams to develop robust supplier capacity and constraint analyses that identify risks, informed mitigation actions, and support recovery plans
- Identify systemic bottlenecks and work cross-functionally with field ops, service analytics to develop scalable solutions that improve supply chain resilience and improved customer fulfillment strategies
- Quantify the financial impact of supply chain constraints and planning decisions, including premium freight, referrals, excess inventory, shortages, fill rate misses, and other avoidable costs
- Evaluate planning decisions through a financial lens and build compelling business cases that balance customer experience, service levels, working capital, and cost
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs associated with suboptimal planning and improve overall planning effectiveness
- Present service supply chain impacts, risks, fair share allocation requirements and tradeoffs in exec level S&OP and S&OE forums to drive timely, cross-functional decisions and actions
- Collaborate with service analytics and supplier operations to establish & enhance meaningful supply chain KPIs, dashboards, and scorecards, including integration and visibility through supplier-facing systems and portals
- Leverage AI and advanced analytics to identify emerging supply risks, accelerate scenario modeling, improve inventory allocation, and supplier-performance decisions
- Lead the development of a global Supply Chain Control Tower, creating a single, forward-looking view of supply chain health, risks, constraints, financial impact and performance to proactively guide decision-making at all levels of the organization
- 8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain planning, strategy, supplier management, operations, analytics, or a related field
