The Branch Safety Specialist is the owner of the branch safety program and a trusted advisor to branch leadership and field teams. This role serves as a subject matter expert, traveling to job sites within the assigned territory (approximately 20-30% travel) to partner with clients and operational leaders. The Specialist designs, implements, and continuously improves safety systems; develops customized safety plans;

ensures compliance with Cal/OSHA regulations and company standards; and drives risk reduction and operational excellence. The position requires the exercise of independent judgment on matters of significance, including policy development, program selection, budget recommendations, and the prioritization of corrective actions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Branch Safety Program Ownership:
Develop, implement, and sustain the Branch Safety Plan in alignment with corporate EHS requirements and business objectives.
Customer Safety Engagement:
Conduct job site assessments to evaluate safety practices, identify hazards, and collaborate with clients to develop tailored safety plans that meet regulatory and company standards.
Policy and Procedure Development:
Create, update, and publish safety policies, standard operating procedures, and safe work practices; ensure consistent adoption and compliance across branch and customer sites.
Training and Learning:
Deliver instructor-led training sessions and toolbox talks for internal teams and client personnel; verify competency and manage learning management system (LMS) records.
Incident and Claim Management:
Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses; partner with Operations, Corporate Safety, HR, and Claims to implement corrective actions and support case management.
Data Analytics and Reporting:
Own and analyze safety performance metrics, including TRIR, DART, near-miss reporting, audit results, and training completion, to drive continuous improvement.
Fleet Safety Oversight:
Ensure compliance with driver qualification requirements; support coaching, collision reviews, preventive maintenance, and the use of telematics insights in collaboration with fleet and safety teams.
Leadership

Coaching:

Advise managers and client teams on safety leadership behaviors, accountability, and performance improvement strategies.
Continuous Improvement:
Champion initiatives that strengthen safety culture, reduce risk, and enhance operational leadership engagement.

Required Skills & Experience

High school diploma required; bachelor's degree in safety, environmental health, or related field preferred.
3+ years in safety or field operations; HVAC or construction industry experience a plus. Proven success in program ownership and influencing leaders.
OSHA 30-hour required; CPR/First Aid required (or obtain within 90 days), and CHST, ASP, or STSC highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to conduct training and speak confidently to groups.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with safety management software preferred.
Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders, and lift up to 25 lbs.; travel to branch and customer locations as needed.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred
