Job Description

Senior Vice President, Environmental Geologist for our Irvine, California Site Investigation & Remediation (SIR) team. Responsible for consulting, selling, managing, designing and implementing environmental multi‑media remediation programs for clients in Industrial, Government, Energy, Oil & Gas, and Transportation sectors. The role involves expanding WSP’s environmental consulting business in California and the West, leveraging broad engineering and environmental science services.

Responsibilities
  • Perform business development within various sectors for environmental remediation, engineering, and related services.
  • Perform Customer Care Lead responsibilities for at least one client.
  • Design, oversee, mentor, and direct staff and project‑level engineers.
  • Lead technical reports, proposals, project work scopes, pricing, budget, and performance metrics for the scientific discipline.
  • Interact with Local Business Leader, Sector Lead, other Principals and Senior‑level employees in the office and firm‑wide.
  • Manage multiple projects to ensure deliverables, schedules, and budgets are achieved.
  • Meet sales, revenue, and delivery goals.
  • Provide proactive and strategic process and people leadership for the design, implementation, and administration of the scientific discipline’s projects and programs.
  • Drive compliance and accountability with applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental laws, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee internal vision and mission for the scientific discipline, keeping certifications and client value ratings improved.
  • Lead scientific discipline meetings and continuing educational opportunities, providing updates and recommendations to staff.
  • Serve as the discipline’s representative/liaison to federal, state, and local agencies, clients, subcontractors, industry groups, and community entities.
  • Interpret and summarize complex project data, producing sound scientific and regulatory conclusions.
  • Provide discipline leadership to multidisciplinary project teams and offer high‑level strategic advice to clients.
  • Provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned managers and staff.
  • Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to provide future‑ready solutions for clients.
  • Make responsible and ethical decisions regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications
  • BS in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related scientific field.
  • 20+ years of environmental investigation/remediation and sales experience in California, with direct client account management.
  • Consulting experience with investigation and remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater, including petroleum hydrocarbons, metals, chlorinated solvents, PCBs, and/or PFAS.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, implement, and manage multiple larger‑scale discipline‑related programs, documents, projects, and practices for a line of business.
  • California Professional Geologist’s License.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Strong project and program management experience.
  • Self‑starter, team‑oriented, with excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to manage staff and interact persuasively with employees at all levels.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary remediation/assessment projects involving the Regional Quality Water Quality Control Board, DTSC, and/or one of the local CUPAs.
  • Ability to mentor and direct geologists, scientists, and technicians.
  • Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, DTSC, Water Board and other CalEPA programs.
  • Consulting experience in soil gas and vapor intrusion issues.
