Job SummaryAs a Senior Material Handler, you will play a key role in overseeing the movement, storage, and flow of materials within our warehouse and production environment. You will ensure materials are received, stored, distributed, and delivered accurately and on time to support production schedules. This role also supports process improvements, inventory accuracy, and the training and development of junior material handlers.
ResponsibilitiesMaterial Handling & Distribution
- Receive, store, stage, and distribute materials in accordance with production schedules and operational needs.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure all materials are properly labeled, tracked, and stored.
- Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate material movement between warehouse and production areas to minimize downtime.
- Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution procedures to ensure material flow efficiency.
- Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material handling processes.
- Monitor key performance indicators, including:
- Inventory Turnover Rate
- Receiving Accuracy
- Backorder Rate
- Weeks on Hand
- Perform routine cycle counts and participate in inventory audits to support accuracy and compliance.
- Train, mentor, and support less‑experienced material handlers.
- Promote a culture of safety, accuracy, and teamwork within the warehouse.
- Provide input to leadership regarding workflow improvements and training needs.
- Experience in material handling, warehousing, logistics, or a related field.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks (certification preferred).
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately complete documentation and verify inventory data.
- Ability to follow instructions, adhere to procedures, and identify discrepancies or errors proactively.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
