Opto/Mechanical Technician Level 2
Join AZAD as an Opto/Mechanical Technician Level 2 who will be responsible for the advanced assembly of optical systems for lasers, laser radars and electro‑optical sensors and instruments.
Job TypeFull‑time consultant position based in Irvine, CA with a high probability of long‑term and ongoing employment. Hourly pay rate up to $30 DOE plus 20% differential depending on related qualifications and experience, as well as composition of selected compensation package.
ScheduleThe hours will be from 10pm - 6:30am. Will need to train on first shift for a month (6am-2:30pm).
Essential Functions- Responsible for the advanced assembly of optical systems for lasers, and electro‑optical sensors and instruments.
- Follow written procedures or drawings developed by engineers and suggest improvements to optimize production.
- Assemble and debug systems incorporating optical, mechanical, and electronic components.
- Test each level of assembly (4‑5 processes) at the system level using laboratory instruments (interferometer, Zygo, etc.).
- Audit 1–2 work order kits from warehouse to confirm pieces and part numbers.
- Prepare subassembly components.
- Package the final assembly daily (if assembly is completed).
- Cross training is required (trainee and/or trainer).
- 2‑4 years of related experience.
- AA Degree, Technical Certification or equivalent is a plus.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to use measurement instruments (interferometer, Zygo) preferred.
- Experience entering data numbers into Microsoft Excel spreadsheet templates.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
