Position: 2nd Shift Machinist: Precision Parts & 401(k) Match

Position Summary

Operating one or more production machines with guidance from a team leader, operating from blueprints, sketches, and route sheets. Responsible for performing repetitive machine operations such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming parts. Contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Set up machines for simple operations and execute repetitive machine tasks, including reworking parts.
  • Make minor machine adjustments and report improper functioning or cutting action for correction.
  • Perform tapping, spot‑facing, chamfering, countersinking, and counterboring to close tolerances.
  • Align and fasten parts using standard fixtures and established methods.
  • Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to machine quality parts according to documentation.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks, or other irregularities from machined parts.
  • Inspect parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments, gauges, and comparators.
  • Use magnification equipment to detect and avoid damage to surfaces and critical areas.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability in accordance with division requirements.
  • Accurately perform statistical process control (SPC) specific to division requirements.
  • Participate in lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions for improvement.
  • Apply lean concepts and tools in the work area and observe all company policies, procedures, and safety rules.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform other related responsibilities as requested.
Qualifications
  • 0‑1 year general or related machining experience, or demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities.
  • Proficiency reading and following blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
  • Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
  • Effective application of lean initiatives.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Interpretation of reports and use of job‑specific software applications.
  • Ability to use employee self‑service systems and specialized automated systems such as PMR, TORS, and e‑mail.
  • Demonstrated team member competencies and participation in goal setting, performance feedback, and self‑development activities.
Typical Mental and Physical Demands

Walk, stand, and sit for extended periods. Requires manual dexterity and use of hands to operate machinery. Close vision is required. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Regular attendance and cooperative, professional work with others are expected.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $23/hr to $29.30/hr
