General Production Worker / Machine Operator (2nd Shift)

Job Description

This role supports the manufacturing of diamond blades and core bits used in construction, stone, and mining applications. You will operate production machinery, perform general production tasks, and rotate across multiple departments such as dressing, packaging, painting, grinding, and laser operations. The position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced production environment. The role is primarily on 2nd shift with required initial training on 1st shift and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Operate production and laser welding machines safely and efficiently according to standard operating procedures.
  • Train on 1st shift for 1–2 months, then work 2nd shift (4:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.) with overtime as needed.
  • Shift between various production roles and work locations as assigned, including dressing, packaging, painting, grinding, CET printing, and stamping.
  • Perform laser welding tasks, including setting up equipment, following SOPs, and checking weld quality with a keen eye for detail.
  • Assist with radius grinding by handling small parts and shaving segments to match core radius using hand tools and equipment.
  • Work as a material picker by pulling materials to feed the production line, following instructions, and maintaining a safe work area.
  • Support the production line when material picking tasks are completed, remaining flexible and trainable in new tasks.
  • Operate open arbor equipment by measuring accurately and cutting arbor holes with different patterns using laser cutters or machines.
  • Use laser stamping equipment to engrave products accurately according to specifications.
  • Perform general labor tasks such as packaging, packing, deburring, and basic machine operation as needed.
  • Inspect products using tools such as eye loupes and microscopes to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Lift and move materials and products weighing up to 35–50 lbs as part of daily tasks.
  • Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to follow instructions and document work as required.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance, arriving on time and working scheduled shifts without unapproved absences.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and maintain a positive, cooperative work environment.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of experience as a machine operator in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated machine aptitude and willingness to be trained on laser welding and other production equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal standard operating procedures accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for quality, especially when inspecting welds and finished products.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both spoken and written.
  • Capability to lift 35–50 lbs frequently and perform physical tasks such as standing, sitting, bending, reaching, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Comfort working with hand tools and basic production equipment.
  • Comfortable using inspection tools such as an eye loupe (magnifying glass) and microscopes.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality, especially during the initial training period.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift (4:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.) and train on 1st shift for 1–2 months.
  • Willingness and ability to cross-train and work in multiple departments as needed.

  • Experience with general labor, packaging, and packing in a warehouse or production environment.
  • Experience with grinding, deburring, and laser welding processes.
  • Experience operating or supporting CET printing and stamping equipment.
  • Familiarity with open arbor operations, including measuring and cutting arbor holes with different patterns.
  • Experience as a material picker, including pulling and staging materials for production lines.
  • Ability to handle small parts with good hand dexterity for radius grinding and similar tasks.
