CNC Operator

Position Summary

This role is a skilled position responsible for setting up and running CNC equipment to machine or fabricate a variety of precision components to specifications by following drawings, work instructions, and in-process inspection requirements.

• Use various CNC equipment such as CNC lathes, milling, and drilling machines to operate or fabricate components for final assembly.
• Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools and specialized variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
• Mount, align, and secure work holding, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
• Load parts and cycle machine to ensure optimal efficiency and conformance.
• Read, understand, and edit G‑code programming.
• Measure and inspect part features per drawing to ensure conformance and detect defects using precision instruments such as dial calipers, gauge pins, and micrometers.
• Recognize and understand non‑conformance.
• Record information or data describing work performed or defects found.
• Complete assigned work within the given timeframe efficiently and according to specifications, completing all documentation.
• Cooperate with other employees in the department to maintain a safe working environment.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, including required PPE for the respective job being performed.
• Interpret parts of drawings and process instructions.
• Work to tight tolerances.
• Load and unload raw materials and equipment, and set up and calibrate accessories.
• Monitor machines while assembling products, and make adjustments as needed.
• Perform quality checks before running the machines, and inspect the finished product to ensure it meets specifications.
• Report any mechanical issues to your lead, supervisor, or maintenance department.
• Obtain and document work orders, keeping detailed records for equipment and procedures.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned.
• 2nd shift hours 1 pm – 10 pm.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years related experience.
• Technical school training a plus.
• 3+ years in manufacturing/aerospace a plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours to support overtime requirements.
• Can lift 10 pounds consistently without assistance, 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
• Knowledge of general workshop tools and equipment pertaining to sheet metal and the aerospace industries.
• Must be able to understand and interpret technical drawings to military and aerospace specifications.
• Able to do basic shop math calculations.
• Maintain established standards of quality, productivity, and attendance.
• Follow instruction and direction.
• Able to work in a high‑volume production environment.
