SUMMARY OF POSITION
Responsible for setting-up films for production. This includes cross-checking films with schedule requirements, setting-up film according to schedule needs and maintaining an inventory of film rolls. Functions as a back-up to production when needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Pulls and stages films from cold storage set-up area.
- Verifies daily coater machine production.
- Maintains a running balance of all film produced and consumed daily.
- Supports daily production schedules and sets-up film accordingly.
- Reports any machine abnormalities or breakdowns to the Group Leader, Lead Operator or Supervisor.
- Conducts monthly cycle counts. Assists with conducting physical inventories.
- Follows safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Exhibits exemplary conduct at all times in dealing with other Newport employees and any outside contacts. Contributes to a healthy, positive, and safe environment. Promotes self as a team member.
- May be assigned, and be expected to perform to acceptable standards, any relevant related duties as required by management.
- Completes duties and responsibilities in accordance with applicable safety, quality, performance standards, and requirements.

A fully qualified individual must have the ability to conduct all job functions in English; add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance; read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization;
apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions; deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables; and complete tasks and assignments in a timely manner.
A minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Recommended experience is 1-3 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIESBasic PC skills are preferred. Forklift experience desired. Bi-lingual skills in Spanish are a plus.
