Job Title:
Solderer / Electronic Repair Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and refurbishing returned electronic products, with a strong emphasis on printed circuit boards (PCBs) and system-level assemblies. You will perform precise hand soldering and assembly work, ensure repairs meet established quality standards, and document all activities in repair databases and reports. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with occasional weekend work as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and refurbish returned electronic products, including printed circuit boards (PCBs) and system-level assemblies.

  • Perform precise hand soldering of through-hole and surface mount components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs).

  • Assemble and modify prototype, developmental, and production electronic assemblies according to specifications.

  • Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and technical documentation.

  • Install electronic components using appropriate hand tools and soldering equipment.

  • Inspect and test electronic assemblies using test equipment to verify proper functionality and quality.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic assemblies, identifying and correcting faults at the component and circuit board level.

  • Ensure all work complies with IPC-A-610 workmanship and quality standards.

  • Update and record all related RMA statuses in the database and maintain accurate repair documentation.

  • Prepare detailed repair reports for each case, clearly describing findings, actions taken, and test results.

  • Follow safety procedures related to equipment use, chemicals, and material handling at all times.

  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and support a safe, clean, and organized work area.

  • Apply ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) controls and best practices while handling sensitive electronic components.

  • Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and production team members to resolve technical issues and meet project objectives.

  • Meet productivity, quality, and turnaround time expectations for customer repairs and replacements.

Essential Skills
  • 1–2 years of experience in electronic assembly, soldering, or a related manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in hand soldering, including through-hole and surface mount (SMT) components on printed circuit boards (PCBs).

  • Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions, drawings, schematics, blueprints, and process documentation.

  • Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills for precise work with small electronic components.

  • Ability to perform tasks requiring visual magnification when working with fine-pitch components.

  • Understanding of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) controls and best practices in an electronics environment.

  • Ability to use basic electronic test equipment to inspect, test, and troubleshoot electronic assemblies.

  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 workmanship and quality standards for electronic assemblies.

  • Solid troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and repairing issues at the component and circuit board level.

  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and adhere to established processes and quality requirements.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with PCBA hand soldering in a production or repair environment.

  • Knowledge of electronic assembly processes, including through-hole and surface mount (SMT) soldering and rework.

  • Comfort reading and working from schematics, circuit diagrams, and technical documentation.

  • Experience working with circuit boards, soldering assemblies, and surface mount technology.

  • Familiarity with IPC standards and quality expectations for electronic manufacturing.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technicians, engineers, and production staff to resolve technical issues.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, reliable repairs.

  • Organizational skills to maintain accurate records, RMA status updates, and detailed repair reports.
