Location:
Jefferson, NC

Pay: $2,046 per week
Shift Information: Days – 5 days × 8 hours (07:00 – 15:00)
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Registered Nurses (RNs) will provide perioperative and postoperative nursing care for a diverse patient population, including general, orthopedic, gynecologic, and ophthalmic cases. The role involves pre‑operative preparation, intraoperative support, and post‑operative monitoring in a high‑volume surgical unit.
Responsibilities- Assist surgeons during a wide range of procedures (e.g., appendectomy, cholecystectomy, laparoscopic‑assisted cases, arthroscopy, cataract extraction, etc.).
- Prepare and maintain a sterile, organized scrub environment.
- Administer medications and monitor patient status, including cardiac monitoring and conscious sedation.
- Perform procedures such as urinary bladder catheterization, central line initiation, and IV access.
- Ensure adherence to infection control, radiation safety, and universal protocol (time‑out) procedures.
- Provide post‑operative care in the PACU, including pain management and monitoring for complications.
- Document patient care in Meditech; complete required modules and quality metrics.
- Float within the hospital and affiliate sites as needed; comply with fatigue policy (max 5 consecutive days, 60 hours/week).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an operating room setting.
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
- Experience with general OR, laparoscopic‑assisted cases, colonoscopy, EGD, and a variety of surgical specialties listed above.
- Comfortable with specialty procedures: cataract surgery, arthroscopy, hernia repair, gynecologic procedures, and certain ophthalmic surgeries.
- Proficiency in Meditech charting (Epic preferred).
- Knowledge of fire safety, Latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia, and sterile technique.
- Valid nursing license in NC (or pending).
- Travel compliance:
Must complete lab testing within 48 hours of signing; 12‑month rehire waiting period for previous Novant Health employees. - Patient ratios: 1 patient per shift; orientation 24 hours.
- Equipment includes Stryker orthopedic systems, Olympus lap equipment, and Fugi endoscopy system.
- Required core exams:
Nursing core exam, Ishihara Color Vision, OR RN exam. - COVID‑19 vaccine not required; flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemption allowed).
