Role summary:
Your Role on the Team:
The Nurse Practitioner II in the Department of Medicine, Hematology/Oncology Division, works as a highly competent, independent yet team-oriented professional who is a critical part of patient care. Under the supervision of Medical Directors and the Nurse Practitioner Supervisor, and guided by applicable policies and procedures, the Nurse Practitioner will participate in comprehensive patient care in inpatient settings at UCI Medical Center Douglas Hospital in Orange, providing multi-disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians.
An NP is an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with advanced education, knowledge, clinical skills, and experience to provide specialized nursing care. This position may perform functions appropriate to their scope of practice, which includes management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical/surgical procedures per approved standardized procedures. Familiarity with state statutes for licenses is necessary.
Privileges are unique to each person and unlikely to include all privileges. The NP provides patient care across age groups based on educational preparation and licensure, and has responsibility for the standards of care for their patient population. APPs are credentialed and privileged through the Medical Staff to function in their clinical role. Credentialing and privilege approvals must be completed prior to the first working day.
The NP is accountable to and receives feedback from the supervising/collaborating physician, physician designee(s) in the same clinical specialty, or the Administrative Manager.
