Nurse Practitioner II; Neuro Critical Care​/Neurology - Irvine

Your Role on the Team

The Nurse Practitioner II will work in the Neurology Cerebrovascular and Neuro‑Hospitalist Division under the supervision of an attending faculty member, providing advanced nursing care in ambulatory and inpatient settings, coordinating multidisciplinary care, educating patients and families, and communicating with physicians.

• Provides comprehensive care and care coordination for patients in the ambulatory or inpatient settings.
• Manages chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures within scope of practice.
• Performs duties based on state statutes and accredited credentials.
• Maintains standards of care and self‑direction in all health‑licensed settings.
• Is credentialed and privileged through Medical Staff before first working day.
• Is accountable to supervising or collaborating physicians and receives regular performance feedback.

• Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.
• Diplomacy and flexibility in interactions with physicians, nurses, paramedical personnel, administrators, emergency and law‑enforcement officers.
• Customer‑service skills appropriate to the job.
• Clear communication of medical information to a broad variety of people, in person and by telephone.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills.
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and a Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license.
• Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
• NP National Board Certification.
• Current, active, unrestricted furnishing license and DEA registration.
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Board Certified.
• At least 1–2 years of Neurology experience as an NP.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a fast‑paced outpatient setting with elderly patients and families.
