As part of the Irvine
Telemetry team at Hoag Hospital, Irvine
, you’ll give direct inpatient nursing care as per the California Nurse Practice Act, and in support of the mission of the Patient Care Services Division. Being a Hoag Clinical Nurse means serving our community by using research and evidence-based outcomes and collaborating with members of your team to offer the highest level of care to those who depend on us.

Inside Hoag’s Telemetry Unit

Our growing 82-bed Telemetry Unit at Hoag Irvine is a dynamic, fast-paced environment where nurses care for patients with cardiac conditions, post-surgical recovery needs, and other complex medical issues. We pride ourselves on a collaborative culture that values teamwork, professional growth, and evidence-based practice.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and promptly respond to changes.
  • Administer medications, including cardiac drips, and monitor therapeutic and adverse effects.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on care plan, medications, procedures, and discharge instructions.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to ensure safe, high-quality care.
  • Participate in unit-based initiatives to improve patient outcomes and enhance workflow efficiency.

Other duties may include:

  • Assessing and documenting a complete physical assessment, nursing interventions, and teaching and discharge needs for patients assigned to each shift, utilizing documentation guidelines, Standards of Care and Pathway goals.
  • Communicating changes in the patient's condition to the Charge Nurse/Supervisor and the physician directing care, as well as pertinent information at shift report using the patient Plan of Care (POC).
  • Providing continuity of care through the implementation and utilization of the POC.
  • Responding to emergency situations in a timeframe appropriate to the needs of each patient.
  • Administering medications and intravenous therapy with the ability to assess the appropriate indication of dosing and effects of the medication administered.
  • Assessing the educational ability/level for the patient, incorporating available educational material into patient/significant other teaching and documenting understanding in the patient record.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accredited from American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification accredited from American Heart Association
  • Successful completion of an EKG course or equivalent.
  • Requires and Maintains NIHSS certification 365 days from the day of hire as designated by Manager.
  • Must possess at least two (2) years of Clinical Nurse experience in a hospital setting.
  • Clinical Nurse I’s at Magnet designated facilities only require a BSN or that a BSN program is started within one year of hire date and BSN degree is attained within two years of the starting the BSN program.

Preferred

  • BSN.
  • Previous Telemetry and/or high acuity experience.
