Position Summary
The clinical nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients. The nurse performs professional duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age‑appropriate cognitive skills of the patient, family, and significant other to assess, plan, intervene, and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.
The nurse evaluates patient outcomes, the effectiveness of the plan of care, and readiness for discharge, revising the plan or making referrals as necessary. The nurse acts as a role model and mentor to students and nurses new to the unit and functions as a Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) as requested by the supervisor or manager.
- Minimum of 2 years current PACU experience and 2 years ICU experience in a critical care unit.
- Current PALS certification or obtainable within 90 days of employment.
- All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Flexibility and capacity to thrive in a fast‑paced, constantly changing environment.
- Maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
- Prior experience in a Level I Trauma Center and/or Academic Medical Center.
- Knowledge of Title 22 and Joint Commission requirements.
- Greater than two years of demonstrated nursing experience in a critical care or post‑anesthesia unit.
- Demonstrated experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.

Registered Nurse diploma or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
