Your Role on the Team

The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for oversight of an assigned clinical group (approximately 6‑12 students) and various activities related to the education of nursing students. The instructor coordinates clinical components of the assigned group, remains current in clinical practice per BRN guidelines, completes continuing education requirements, and ensures all health requirements and certifications are up‑to‑date with the Clinical Support Unit.

It Takes To Be Successful Essential Functions (Key Responsibilities)
  • Oversee the following in conjunction with the Faculty of Record (FOR):
  • Grading assignments, providing timely feedback, and utilizing grading rubrics provided by FOR
  • Managing learning activities, course schedule, and simulation activities
  • Student evaluations and facilitating facilitation of assignments and progress for students, including remediation planning and follow‑up
  • Act as primary contact for assigned students regarding scheduling, assignments, and progress (80%)
  • Participate in orientation/bootcamp/lab sessions for students in conjunction with faculty of record and other clinical instructors (10%)
  • Participate in clinical faculty orientation to discuss course, assignments, expectations, agency, and evaluation methods (10%)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Thorough knowledge of delivering clinical nursing education and training material for orientation and competency learning
  • Strong interpersonal skills to provide education, training, and resources, and develop positive relationships with nursing staff and leadership
  • Detail oriented with proven organizational skills to manage time, prioritize tasks, and complete projects on deadline
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate productively in a team and convey complex clinical information clearly
  • Knowledge of a broad spectrum of professional nursing practices and issues
  • Knowledge of evidence‑based research methodology, data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to manage multiple responsibilities and assess complex problems to develop solutions
Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing practice in one or more of the following clinical areas within the last five years:
    Medical‑Surgical, Geriatric, Obstetric, Pediatric, Psychiatric/Mental Health (Required)
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Master’s degree in Nursing preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse in the State of California
  • Certificate within area of specialty preferred
Total Compensation
