Your Role on the Team

Under the direction of the Clinical and Ambulatory Operations Director, the Clinical Nurse Manager serves as the Infection Control Officer and is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and oversight of nursing operations at the Student Health Center (SHC). This position ensures the delivery of high‑quality, efficient, and compliant clinical care; oversees nursing practice; manages staff development; and administers infection control programs in alignment with university policies, regulatory standards, and public health guidelines.

The role requires strong clinical expertise, operational leadership, and the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.

Required Qualifications
  • Solid knowledge of supervising a medical care unit.
  • Solid knowledge of patient needs and care assessment.
  • Broad clinical skills in providing and supervising appropriate medical care to patients.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, staff members, and other members of the medical community.
  • Knowledge of leadership and supervision of nursing staff.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical record systems.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement, human resource management, and financial resources.
  • Knowledge and experience with customer service.
  • Ability to meet the challenges of complicated patient conditions, emergent situations, and public health issues.
  • Knowledge and compliance with standards of regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with accreditation processes.
  • Experience in infection control programs, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and write nursing policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and provide health and safety training.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area.
  • Current and valid California State RN license.
  • CPR certification.
  • Five years of demonstrated quality nursing and management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC).
  • Experience in patient care operations in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Experience working in a Union environment.
Special Conditions
  • This position’s schedule is M‑F during traditional work hours; weekend or non‑traditional work hours may be required for special projects or busy times of the year or when strict deadlines must be met.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a DOJ Live Scan background check, verification and continued monitoring of licensure, and successful completion of the background review or credentialing process.
  • The employee must comply with OSHA, CA/OSHA, CDC recommendations and requirements regarding vaccination and testing of healthcare employees, including hepatitis B immunizations, annual flu vaccinations, annual tuberculosis screening, and the CDPH and UC COVID‑19 Vaccine Policy (proof of full vaccination or exception request).
  • Per the UC Ethics Briefing, the employee is responsible for reporting any and all potential conflicts of interest to their supervisor promptly.
