Assistant Program Director

Role Summary

Our client, a healthcare education organization, is seeking an Assistant Nursing Program Director to support the leadership and administration of a vocational nursing education program. This role is responsible for assisting with program planning, regulatory compliance, curriculum oversight, faculty support, clinical coordination, and student success initiatives.

Working under the supervision of the Nursing Program Director, the Assistant Program Director will help ensure compliance with state nursing education standards, maintain high-quality academic and clinical instruction, support accreditation activities, and contribute to continuous program improvement. This position also includes teaching responsibilities for approximately 50% of the workload.

• Assist with planning, developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating all aspects of the nursing program.
• Support regulatory compliance by preparing reports, proposals, self‑studies, surveys, and documentation for state board and accreditation requirements.
• Assist with strategic planning and continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance program effectiveness.
• Coordinate and maintain clinical education resources, partnerships, and site approvals.
• Evaluate clinical agencies to ensure learning experiences meet program objectives and educational standards.
• Ensure required clinical site approvals are obtained before student clinical rotations begin.
• Oversee clinical assignments, rotation schedules, calendars, and placement documentation.
• Monitor faculty compliance with academic policies, clinical guidelines, and program standards.
• Ensure timely completion of student theory and clinical evaluations by faculty.
• Maintain evaluation data from students, faculty, and clinical partners following each clinical rotation.
• Review instructional materials and curriculum to ensure quality and ongoing program improvement.
• Ensure student records and documentation are maintained in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
• Verify students meet graduation requirements and eligibility for nursing licensure examinations.
• Provide academic advising and guidance to prospective and current students.
• Teach nursing courses (didactic and/or clinical instruction) for approximately half of assigned workload.
• Stay current with educational best practices, healthcare technologies, and applicable safety regulations.
• Participate in faculty meetings, program planning, and other administrative activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with coursework in nursing, education, administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience within a nursing education program.
• Minimum of three (3) years of full-time faculty experience in a pre‑licensure or post‑licensure nursing program.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching in an online learning environment.
• Minimum of four (4) years of continuous full-time experience as a Registered Nurse providing direct patient care in one or more of the following specialties within the past five (5) years:
  • Geriatrics
  • Medical‑Surgical Nursing
  • Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing
  • Obstetrics
  • Pediatrics
• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a deadline‑driven environment.
• Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and problem‑solving skills.

• Experience supporting nursing program accreditation or regulatory compliance activities.
• Experience coordinating clinical education, faculty development, or curriculum implementation.
• Experience with academic quality improvement and program assessment initiatives.
• Previous leadership experience in nursing education administration.
