American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a night shift position at a cancer specialty hospital, requiring 3+ years of oncology experience and chemotherapy certification.
Details- Medical Surgical Oncology unit within a cancer specialty hospital
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Care for patients with bladder, kidney, breast, colorectal, liver, lung, ovarian/uterine, pancreatic, and prostate cancers
- Uses Pyxis medication system
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- SBAR communication method used
- Weekend and float requirements
- Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration (no pending license, EMSA not accepted)
- BSN required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Med/Surg Oncology required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and Chemotherapy (ONS/ONCC) certifications required in hand, no pending certifications
- Experience administering chemotherapy via IV push, oral, and continuous infusion methods
- Experience with body fluid handling and cytotoxic spill management/disposal post-chemotherapy
- Ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
- Experience with antibiotics, antiemetics, antitumor agents, corticosteroids, hormonal therapy, and Neupogen administration
- Post-surgical care experience required
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy treatments across multiple cancer types
- Provide post-surgical care and manage oncologic medication regimens
- Caribbean blue scrubs required (not provided)
- Flu vaccine or signed declination form required during flu season (October-March)
- Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 75-mile radius
- No restrictive RTO rules
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travel pairs allowed
- Former employees of the facility will not be considered for this position
