As a Product Test Engineer, you will support the execution and coordination of wear-test programs across Fox, Bell, Giro, and Camel Bak brands. Working closely with the Wear Test Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of product test activities — managing evaluators, tracking samples, documenting product performance observations, and ensuring test activities run on schedule and in accordance with established standard operating procedures.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, hands-on contributor who thrives in a cross-functional R&D environment and is passionate about consumer product performance and quality validation. You will serve as a key operational point of contact for evaluators and product development stakeholders, supporting the collection of structured, real-world performance data that informs design iterations and product readiness decisions.
This position reports to the Sr. Lab Manager and is based in our Adventure Sports headquarters in Irvine, CA.
As the Product Test Engineer, you will have an opportunity to:
- Coordinate wear-test activities across assigned product categories, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met in alignment with the Wear Test Manager's direction.
- Manage evaluator recruitment, onboarding, communication, and participation tracking to maintain an active and diverse evaluator pool.
- Distribute test samples to evaluators and maintain accurate tracking records throughout the wear-test lifecycle.
- Build and administer surveys aligned with Product Development requirements; collect and organize evaluator responses for analysis.
- Conduct evaluator follow-up interviews and document feedback, issues, and observations in the appropriate tracking systems.
- Review returned samples and capture performance and quality findings for reporting.
- Compile and summarize evaluator feedback into clear, organized reports for review by the Wear Test Manager and product stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records in the Wear Test Tracker and Evaluator Database as the operational source of truth.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying workflow inefficiencies and recommending process enhancements.
- Coordinate logistics for sample shipment, return, and storage in collaboration with internal teams.
- Support test readiness by verifying sample availability, evaluator assignments, and documentation quality prior to test launch.
You have:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field; or 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2–4 years of experience in product testing, product development, quality, or a related operational role within a consumer producs or R&D environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent test programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable coordinating with evaluators, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and comfortable with digital data collection tools (e.g., MS Forms, Fastfield, or similar).
- Demonstrated ability to assess and communicate product-related observations (e.g., fit, comfort, durability, or functional performance).

- Experience in action sports, cycling, snow, or outdoor/lifestyle consumer products.
- Familiarity with wear testing, user evaluation programs, or consumer product feedback processes.
- Experience reviewing physical product samples for performance, durability, or workmanship issues.
- Experience administering surveys and processing product test data (qualitative and quantitative).
- Exposure to product development workflows, test planning, and cross-functional team collaboration within an R&D lab setting.
