Position: Junior or Assistant Specialist 2026

Position Overview

The Department of Radiology at the University of California, Irvine is accepting applications for a Junior or Assistant Specialist position. This is a one‑year appointment, non‑senate, and renewable based on performance and funding availability.

Responsibilities

Incumbents will support faculty research in health services research, focusing on patient adherence to recommended care, shared decision making, patient preferences, and health disparities, particularly among cancer patients. Specific tasks include:

  • Providing support for recruitment and participant engagement.
  • Maintaining the study database (REDCAP) and creating data reports.
  • Conducting literature reviews.
  • Assisting with protocol development and IRB submission.
  • Supporting presentation, report, and manuscript preparation.
  • Training and supervising student research assistants.
  • Assisting with other related tasks as needed.

The role involves close collaboration with other departments and institutions.

Potential Projects in the Sadigh Lab
  • Prospective clinical trials.
  • Secondary data analysis of electronic medical records or national databases.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Junior Specialist:
    Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent research experience.
  • Assistant Specialist:
    Master’s degree or five years of equivalent specialized experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with medical research and scientific writing.
  • Experience in health services research.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills; detail‑oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribution to manuscript preparation, IRB submission, and grant writing.
  • Excellent written/spoken English and familiarity with Spanish, Vietnamese, or Korean is desirable.
