Position Overview
We are seeking postdoctoral scholars (Levels 0‑IV) for the 2026‑27 academic year at the Beckman Laser Institute, University of California, Irvine.
Salary RangeThe salary range for this position is $69,073 - $82,836. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step the relevant table for details.

Candidate should possess the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team setting. Experience in molecular biology and cell culture is also desirable.
We are looking for qualified candidates with experience in the following biomedical engineering fields:
- Biomedical photonics/optoelectronics
- Biomedical nano‑ and microscale systems/fabrication
- Biomedical computation/modeling
- Biomolecular and cellular engineering
- Biomaterials
- Tissue/regenerative engineering
- Neuroengineering
- Systems biology
- Cardiovascular engineering
Preference will be given to candidates who can provide physics and optics expertise and who can integrate new optical technologies into existing systems.
These positions require a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, electrical or optical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, or biology, and experience in the field or research areas listed above. Alternatively, candidates can have an M.D. or its foreign equivalent.
This is an ongoing recruitment and positions are dependent upon the availability of extramural funding. Initial appointments are for two years and renewal is based on job performance and availability of support. Total duration of an individual’s postdoctoral service may not exceed five years, including service at other institutions.
QualificationsBasic qualifications: Candidates must hold a doctoral degree or equivalent by the start of the appointment. They may have their Ph.D. or M.D. (or foreign equivalent) at the time of the application or be working toward it.
