Position: VP of  Traffic Engineer

A growing transportation consulting firm is seeking a Vice President of Transportation to lead business development, drive strategic growth, and elevate the firm's presence across the industry. This is a client-facing leadership role focused on winning work, building relationships, and shaping the future of the transportation practice, not managing day-to-day project delivery.

What You'll Do
  • Lead business development and growth strategy for the transportation practice.
  • Drive pursuit strategy, proposal development, and major project wins.
  • Build and maintain relationships with agencies, municipalities, developers, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, association events, and public forums.
  • Advise leadership on market trends, pricing strategies, and practice growth opportunities.
  • Mentor transportation professionals in business development, client engagement, and industry positioning.
What We're Looking For
  • PE or TE license required.
  • AICP certification preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, or transportation consulting.
  • Proven track record of winning work and developing client relationships.
  • Strong industry network and credibility with public and private sector clients.
  • Experience presenting to agencies, stakeholders, and executive-level decision-makers.
  • Strong understanding of LOS, VMT, traffic impact analysis, signal timing, and CEQA/NEPA requirements.
  • Experience with Synchro, PTV Vistro, TransCAD, Auto-CAD, and ArcGIS is a plus.
