We are looking for a Senior Fisheries Biologist to lead and support fisheries and aquatic resource projects. This role manages complex studies, supports client relationships, and guides staff to deliver high-quality work. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with leadership to execute projects and contribute to strategic growth.
Responsibilities- Lead, manage, and execute fisheries and aquatic resource studies, including fisheries assessments, habitat assessments, fish population analyses, fish passage assessments, instream flow studies, benthic macroinvertebrate bioassessments, and aquatic restoration efforts.
- Oversee fisheries and marine resource data analyses, including quality assurance and quality control.
- Prepare and review technical reports and contribute to regulatory documentation.
- Build and maintain client relationships and support business development efforts.
- Prepare scopes of work, budgets, and support project planning.
- Mentor and supervise junior and mid-level staff.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals.
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and internal standards.
- Travel up to 25% as needed for project work.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, fisheries, or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s/Ph.D. with 7+ years of experience.
- Demonstrated experience with project and task management.
- Strong knowledge of coastal/marine and freshwater/aquatic ecology.
- Experience working with freshwater and anadromous fish species.
- Experience preparing or contributing to CEQA and NEPA documents is preferred.
- ESA/CESA compliance experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with FERC processes is a plus.
- USFWS and CDFW permits or Memoranda of Understanding are a plus.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Our base full-time annual salary range is $85,000-$130,000.
Starting salary is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications/permits, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions.
